Delayed Scything 2013

Yep, it happened again! I honestly don’t know where the days go sometimes.
You think: “yeah I was a long time writing that blog but it won’t happen again. I’ll do the next one this weekend…”
Then it’s: “hmmm, it’s getting a bit late and I’m tired. Maybe I’ll start writing that tomorrow… wait, the weekend’s almost here I’ll wait until then and crack one out in a day or so.”
But before you know it summer’s raced by, we’ve done plenty of jobs at Wimpole and no blog! It didn’t help that I didn’t have much access to photos… I know, I know excuses, excuses!

Still I’m back now and hopefully I will be a bit quicker posting this time! I’m thinking of doing some micro segments and a new feature – extended editions. The extended posts won’t be longer versions but those that are in the same vein but not necessarily Wimpole based. Confused? I guess you’ll just have to wait and see…

Scyther's... you will go on my first whistle!
Sticking to the micro segment this blog post is more of a gallery since the scything was a month or two back now and there’s no way I can remember that far back! All I can say is that it was a great day and well received by the public in general.
Shane, Jane and I chatted away in between making spoons (my speciality) and tent pegs (again!). The public got involved with the demonstrations, which seemed to be a crowd-puller; take note National Trust! Elsewhere there was plenty of scything going on including first-timer Paul who did well. Even Debs drifted by during the day on her break to have a say a quick hello.

Oh and I won a medal too! No second place for me this time!! Sadly though my spoon didn’t make the grade as I didn’t get into the final three, although on the flip side it’s more practical as I use it now when I make wine. And I got first place with my blackberry wine so it all works in the long run.

Anyhoo, without further ado here are a handful of photos from that eventful day.
